The Urban & Rural Social Club - April
The Urban and Rural Social Club is a series of relaxed, real life group classes designed to help you and your dog feel more confident, calm, and connected - whether you’re walking through town or exploring open green spaces. Each session focuses on practical skills you can use on your everyday walks, with plenty of support in a small, friendly group.
These classes are pay as you go at £15 per dog, so you can choose the dates and locations that suit you best, without any ongoing commitment.
What the Social Club is all about
The Social Club is perfect if you want:
Happier, less stressful walks with your dog.
Help with focus and manners around other dogs, people, traffic, and new environments.
Training that takes place in real streets, parks, and paths – not just in a hall.
A small, supportive group rather than a busy, overwhelming class.
A friendly, social atmosphere where you can learn alongside other owners.
All friendly dogs are welcome, and we can chat beforehand if your dog needs a bit more space or support.
What we work on
Across both our town and countryside sessions, we focus on real-world skills such as:
Loose lead walking so your dog is easier to handle in any environment.
Engagement and focus, helping your dog to check in with you even around distractions.
Impulse control, like waiting calmly instead of lunging, pulling, or rushing ahead.
Practical obedience in everyday situations – passing other dogs, crossing roads, waiting outside shops, walking through parks and open spaces.
Recall and calm behaviour in more open areas, so you can enjoy countryside walks with more confidence.
Rather than rehearsing everything in an artificial setting, we use the environment around us as part of the training. That means what you learn in class can be taken straight into your daily routine.
How the sessions run
Urban style sessions are held in quieter weekday evenings, using local pavements, small high streets, and nearby public spaces. These are ideal for practising calm, controlled walking and focus around the everyday activity of town life.
Rural style sessions run at the weekend in parks or open green areas, giving dogs a bit more space and a calmer atmosphere while we work on recall, engagement, and relaxation outdoors.
Each class is structured but relaxed, with time for guidance, questions, and practice. Group sizes are kept small so you and your dog get individual attention and don’t feel lost in the crowd.
Where appropriate, we may finish with a short settle in a dog-friendly spot – for example, sitting outside a café or on a bench – so your dog can learn how to relax while you enjoy a well-deserved drink.
