At Point Forward Dog Training, we focus on raising and training confident, capable dogs through practical, real life training, not just exercises that only work in class.
Our approach is built on clarity, consistency and good communication. We help dogs understand what’s expected of them, so they can make better choices and cope calmly with everyday life.
We’re particularly passionate about supporting dogs who struggle with handling, reactivity or day to day challenges. Through structured training plans and calm, skilled guidance, we help dogs build resilience and confidence rather than simply avoiding what they find difficult.
From puppy foundations to bespoke behaviour programmes, everything we offer is personalised to suit your dog’s individual personality and your goals.
You’ll always be guided with honesty, empathy and professional support so you and your dog can move forward with confidence.
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A DOG TRAINER AND A DOG BEHAVIOURIST?
4
A dog trainer focuses on teaching a dog specific skills or tasks, such as recall, loose lead walking, or basic manners.
A behaviourist looks more deeply at why a dog is behaving a certain way. They use principles of learning theory and behavioural science to understand the root cause of behaviour, and then create a structured plan to modify it safely and effectively. There is often some overlap between the two. Effective training benefits from an understanding of behaviour, and behaviour modification frequently involves practical training techniques. A skilled qualified professional should have a solid working knowledge of both.
